The antis regularly say that unathorized immigrants get a range of public benefits but don't pay any taxes. Not so. They're paying $8.4 billion a year in sales taxes and $1.2 billion in income taxes. Nope did not getthe I-797 yet, just an e-mail from USCIS. This was at NSC

I got the I-797 approval notice in mail but no card yet. I heard CARD takes few weeks.

Couple of weeks ago, a friend of mine went for visa revalidation at Mumbai, he requested if he can come back in the evening and pick up the passports(all family). He was let come in the evening and pick them up.
Can you let me know the process?
Also website where I can get more info?

Well I managed to reschedule my travel so now will be able to get my FP done.
Other than AP, EAD, Passport, I-797 and ofcourse the FP notice, is any other document that I need to take?

to the one who left the comment 'pos'..its not, i am just stating a fact, i have been in EB3 with a pd of mid 2002 and have been studying this mess for a long time now. I did not reply to the OP's next question because meridiani.planum had already posted a reply
I would suggest trying for EB2 if possible. Due to the recent change in the visa allocation from vertical to horizontal most of the countries in EB 3 will be affected and movement will be slow. I dont know the number of applicants from Russia but dont expect any additional visa due to spillover. We have an applicant from Russia in our company, he applied in Eb2 and received his GC in 2 and a half years. Most of the EB3s are still rotting waiting for 4-6yrs.

Thanks for the response. I consulted attorney murthy, who advised me to file I-140 & I-485 again , explaining all the facts.
Attorney just put all the documents of denial, the MTR and the new I-140 application along with 485 with a cover letter that the denial was what we consider is erroroneous, so refiling with a copy of labor. I have to wait and see what happens.
Its rather a tense moment as I am on my 7th year extension.

On H1b, you are not even supposed to make money via Google Adsense. Even if the money is diverted to your home country you have to quote these earnings on your taxes. H1b visa holder has to quote his/her worldwide income and its unclear if your income in your home country is taxed here be it Adsense income or a business.
No wonder many entrepreneurial ideas either die or are taking roots in Korea, India or China!

Me and my wife are traveling to India. We are going for visa re-stamping (consular processing).
Based on the information provided below, can you provide lists of forms/docs that we're supposed to carry with us when we visit the consulate for stamping?

I was eligible for EB-2 but as company wouldn't file any case in EB-2.
My lawyer suggests the best way to get it faster is to apply for a new EB-2 (fm a new company) and go for consular processing. I am still researching that option.

Unless you're feeling seriously hampered by your set of lenses right now, and you're planning on spending some dollars on new lenses, I'd stick with what you have at the moment, and only upgrade when you actually see a need to do so, rather than "better do it before it's too late".
Yes, if you have advanced plans on buying more lenses, then I would consider upgrading the camera as well - before you have such a huge collection that you can't feasibly afford to change brands.
I would also very seriously consider the fact that Canon has undeniably the best select of lenses, and most people (except some Nikon fanatics) would probably also agree that the Canon lenses are optically better than the Nikon equivalents [although there are many factors here, some of which are based on personal experience, some are probably depending on whether you get a "good copy" or "bad copy", etc, etc].
Flash memory (SD or CF) isn't very expensive these days, so unless you have several gigabytes of it, you probably need not really worry about that so much when it comes to choosing your next generation camera.
I have to admit, however, that the Nikon D80 has a very tempting price and feature combination. I'm sure it's a really good camera.
Finally, although I'm somewhat of a Canon fan, my latest camera purchase was a Nikon - a small Coolpix 7600 so that me and my wife can carry an unobtrusive camera when need be. Carrying a EOS 10D around is a little bit more noticable...

The whole non-compete agreement is a cruel joke on the employee who finds his own project. All these incapable bad desi employers ban the employee from joining the client whom the employee got them in the first place.
I know a friend of mine works for an employer, he found his own project through a vendor, now because of non-compete agreement he cannot join the client, nor the vendor and now the employer and vendors are buddies and thinking of other business opportunities. In all this the employee is the loser while it was he who brought the employer and vendor together into minting more money at his expense.

Hi,
I have been out of client project after May 15th 2009. I work for a major Consulting company and have been on Bench since then. Got laid off on June 22nd 2009 due to lack of work in these tough times. For the past 5 weeks, I have tried to find a project through various job sites and could not succeed to get even one client interview due to various reasons. One major reason being Billing Rate, which was not fine with my previous employer.
I am aware that my current stay is not legal anymore and have to wind up things here and leave US at the earliest. I would be getting my last paycheck till this week(June 26th 2009).
Not sure how much more time it will take for me to get a job. Can anyone advise how long can I stay here to find a project/job(if lucky to get one soon) and be able to transfer my H1 without any issues.
Please advise as I am in dilemma to stay in USA and try for 1 more month or go back to India at the earliest to find a job there, though the situation is bad there too.
