When I was in DC sometime last year saw a group of people standing in front of the capitol building holding signs that circumcision is cruel!!....
I am proposing that we atleast 50-100 members who can go to DC on a weekday morning, preferably Monday, should stand in that area, with signs highligting our problems, so all senators/congresspersons can see us, I guess that place is specifically for demonstrators, .....we can start from DC on Monday afternoon to our place.
But we need help from DC locals to get permissions...and send a copy of the permissions to all those who plan to attend....
Any date before August 15 will be too early I think, we shoud have enough time to plan to organize this....even 50-100 people would be good....we can take the entire family with kids and stand there for 2-4 hrs.....
CD campaign:
-------------
I had one more idea....how about we put all the material , not only issues related to Jul 2, but all our issues, create an excellent coloured PDF version, write to CD, label it and send the CD too all senators/congress persons/Governors/lt.governers/President/etc etc...we should send this CD to atleast 1000 people and atleast 500 media contacts....
CDs being cheap, it should not cost much except for mailing it and we have some great talent in IV in writing the material.....
Nowadays CEOs/Politicians are so used to presentations etc...so CDs might help
Can we setup a poll for CD campaign.... ?

how about based on salary?
everybody maximize their own utility.
How about deciding the position in the queue based on the utility bill. If you consume more energy/utilities/sewage, you are creating jobs for the guys at the local water treatment plant, sub-station or power generating station, who then go to local eating joint to create more jobs/business, who buy stuff from farmers, who ........
This thread is like pig shit, it occupies lot of space and throws out too much ....

Racial Discrimination Policy followed by USA Immigration
some suggestions on the content that we should put on the banners for the San
Some Quotes from famous people which might help in the rally:
There is nothing less to our credit than our neglect of the foreigner and his children, unless it be the arrogance most of us betray when we set out to ''Americanize'' him. Charles Horton Cooley 1864-1929, American Sociologist
We can add some thing personal below the above statement on the pamphlets
Everywhere immigrants have enriched and strengthened the fabric of American life.
--John F. Kennedy
PS: So Let it be .
America was and is the immigrant's dream.
Don DeLillo
PS: Do not smash it by the incompetent immigration services
Remember, remember always, that all of us, and you and I especially, are descended from IMMIGRATIONs and revolutionists.
Franklin D. Roosevelt 1882-1945, Thirty-second President of the USA
ps:....
The divide of race has been Americas constant curse. They divide us by the country of origin and allocate the green card where in they have to look what an individual can offer to the country.
If you are an Indian or Chinese or Mexican rot for 11 years before you are accepted by the country as a permanent resident. This is what the Immigration law sounds like now.

Most of us can relate to the discomfiture and concerns that our members have. Hang in there, I often listen to either Natasha Bedingfield's "Unwritten" to find inspiration (or Shahrukh's Kal Ho Na Ho title song). Find inspiration in something, direct your energies towards something positive, and your quality of life will get enhanced even amidst duress. Write about your experiences, share your grief, and make your voice heard via the various media efforts at IV.

Yes, but the immigration hearings already happened. People already have a clear indication on what the public wants. Lou Dobbs is still out there reminding them. Honestly, I wish us good luck, but I am not sure.
Seems like you are indicating that public clearly against CIR: on what basis you are saying that. There was no referendum and even an election after the CIR debate. Most of the opinion polls are evenly split: if I remember correctly a popular opinion poll said that most Americans want to solve the immigration issue and they also are fine with putting illegal immigrants on path to citizenship. They also want to have more border security provisions most of these aspects are covered in CIR. Of course illegal immigration issue is controversial and CIR may never succeed in its current form irrespective of who is in control of congress. A democrat leading congress may not venture into too controversial aspects of immigration fearing a backlash during presidential elections. The backlash they fear is energizing the extreme right wing. A republican leading congress anyway wont pass CIR bill.
Thats why our best bet is SKILL bill this is relatively non-controversial, good for American industry, and supported by different groups. Of course it is very difficult.
Not sure if such an important bill will be taken up during lame-duck session. In fact the outgoing house members may actually push for some aggressive border security measures to make the process even longer than it is now. So yes.I too wish us good luck we do need it a lot.

what makes you think i am sitting at home waiting for the gc?
my post was in response to Sayantan's post - go back and read what he said.
The waiter is waiting at the restaurant table for five years. You are waiting at home (for a GC). Who is better?
Anyway, you are mixing two different issues. The Nepali guy came to the US on diversity grounds (no matter what his education is). US law promotes diversity, meaning faces from all over the world. Family and Employment are other two categories. In EB category, of course, higher education stands higher priority. Family and Diversity are diffrent categories with criteria.

EB3-India with PD 2003 and before - Most will be out by December 2008 -
Perhaps 10% may still rot in NC further.
EB3-India with PD JAN 2004 - DEC 2004 - Most will be out by August 2009
Perhaps 20% may still rot in NC
further.
EB3-India with PD JAN 2005 - April 2005 - Most will be out by April 2010
Perhaps 5% may still rot in NC
further.
EB3-India May 2005 Onwards - Can not predict - It is good to look for other
options and that option certainly MUST not
be switching to EB2

There is very simple reason for this, during 1999-2002 H1B cap was raised to 190,000 even if you make a guess on the lower side more than 50% of these H1Bs went to Indians, so atleast 200,000 Indians entered US between 1999 when these people filed their Green Cards most of them filed under EB-3, b'cause retrogression wasn't there and everthing was current, lot of people, who were in the states where labor took less time, kept getting their green cards, in the meantime a huge chunk of people from states like NJ, NY, TX, CA got stuck at the labor stage with PD in 2000 and up. So basically lot of 2002 & above got cleared but these people with older PDs were stuck. Now when these Labors are cleared, with just 3300 Green Card numbers every year, it'll take 20 years or more for EB-3 cut-off dates to move to 2009.
Can you tell me why EB3 is lagging so much
I hope I had got answer to this question ? I am still searching and been doing for last 2 1/2 years from the time I joined IV.

Well, even the traffic/speeing violation may become a crime. It just depends on how many times you keep doing it !
I am sorry stucklabour but a traffic/speeding violation is a misdemeanour and not breaking the law. Being in this country illegally is actually breaking the law. Now i am not going to get suckered into a whole legals v/s illegals debate, but at some level i do feel that undocumented workers HAVE broken the law. Besides the argument that "everyone does it" really doesnt cut it. 10 wrongs do not make 1 right. If you look at the punishment for the 2 things a speeding violation leads to a simple fine, a violation of Visa leads to deportation.
Now i personally dont care, whether the US Govt asks the undocumented to stay or leave. What i DO care about is, how we, the legals are treated. So whether the illegals are mexican, indian, chinese, cambodian or actual aliens from Mars, the policy should be: "If you come the right way, you will make it in, if you come the wrong way, you will either NOT make it in at all, OR will have to wait much longer than the people who came in the right way". So poeple pls stop the "racist" remarks against Just the Mexican community and culture. On the other hand the moderators too have to understand that everyone here does have a right to express SOME opinions regarding the undocumented/illegal immigrants. When you see urself and people doing things the right way waiting for years, as opposed to people doing things the wrong way being literally gifted Green cards, it does raise anger and frustration levels.
