Very well written. We need this kind of language material to present to our friends. You got my contribution. How do I donate $20? I don't see tab for that money on page. Minimum for one time contribution I see is $100. Also is there any way that I do not have to use paypal and directly use my cc to pay?

Allows foreign workers who have started the green card process, but who are subject to green card backlogs, to pay a $500.00 supplemental fee to file an application to adjust status. This change would enable foreign workers to remain in the U.S. until the green card becomes available
Pending labor certification application in PBEC? or this only applies to people who have approved labor, approved I-140 or both?

(LUD = Last Update Date.)
You need to register on uscis.gov (case status online), you will need your receipt numbers (you can enter rect. nos. from I-140, 485, 765, h1 ext. etc). You will get an email as soon as your case has been approved/rfe/noid etc.
When you get an email due to any change and the text changes in your case status it is called Hard LUD, if nothing changes in the case but your file has been touched then it is called soft LUD.
There can be several reasons for soft lud.

I think we should be careful about what we (Employment based immigrats, esp. those who are stuck in backlogs) support. I definitely do not support any reform that does not give us priority or does not eliminate employment based immigration backlogs.
I also think green card lottery, chain immigration, and refugee green cards should be eliminated and those visa numbers should be used for employment based immigrants because all these people can immigrate just like us through employment. We contribute more to the American society and should be given priority. I guess when we become American someday, we would like immigrants who contribute to our community too. Isn't that right? :)
that's just wishful thinking, there are lots and lots of good enterpreneuers who came through family based system, the whole system should be expanded, but not at the cost of family based green card system. even computer graduates ar being produced in bulk in india, evey third person in india is having some kind of bachelor's whether BSc or B.E, U.S won't simply absorb them just because they happen be skilled, however given that there are lots of people who have worked here for so many years, our quota should be expanded.

I have finally received my FP notice today for my I-485. My case was NSC-CSC-NSC. Never made any service request.
I have recently applied (paper based) for renewal of EAD and AP. Not sure if that triggered the FP notice.

This is an excellent point. I would like to raise this up in next IV conference call.
Looks like this is a good idea. Even if FB2 is not current, USCIS might allow applying for 485 in such cases.
Maybe someone more knowledgable or from the core members can throw some light on this.

When I joined Company X (prior employer) I paid for H1b transfer fee and h1b renewal fee(total $3200 + $3000).
They agreed to sponsor my green card(just to give required paperwork) and they asked me to pay GC cost, So far I have paid $1500 for labor +$1700 advertisement + $1700 for I-140 + $3750 just now to file I-485 for me and for my spouse as dates were current to my lawyer . I have labor and I-140 approved from Company X.
I was compromising my personal life by staying away from my family and company X didn't find any client near to my home. I decided to stay at home hoping Company X will find some client near to my home. I was on a bench(no salary for a month).When I asked for a "employment letter "to file I-485 Comapny X said they can't give because they are
not paying me , I said I will resign and then you give me "future employement letter". I resiged Company X( i found company Y near to my home), in 10 days they cancelled my H1b visa without informing me, gladly I found Company Y and H1b transfer took place before they could cancel my H1b. Company X is reluctant even today to give future emplyement
letter.They are ready to do corp-to-corp, for that I have to pay them H1b tranfer cost of $3200(as my prior h1b got cancelled by company X) . I don't beleive its worth going back to them , but at the same time never wanted to lose $8650 green card cost. To join Company Y again I paid h1b transfer fee and , company Y expects me to pay Green card cost again. I am on 7th year extension. New H1b is valid till 2010(3 yr extension on I-140 approval from company X).
Shall I start green card again with company Y ?
Company X doesn't respond to emails/calls. There should some law to protect us from such employers. BTW Employer X was an american employer and wants to follow book-rules.Example .. informing USCIS to windraw H1b petition.

Let us focus on CIR and its aftermath. I understand everyone is frustrated because of the standstill on legal high skilled immigration reform. However, that does not excuse speculation on America's demographics 10 years from now, and gross pejorative generalizations about ethnic groups and nationalities. As Mpkmaster pointed out, no culture is free from deficiencies. I have never been to Mexico but I am sure corruption there can't be worse than corruption in India.
Mpkmaster, there is a specific method to report offensive posts. Please follow it the next time round, as there is no guarantee that grossly offensive posts will be read by the moderators. Thanks for speaking up.
And in response to Jaime, please do not let a few bad posts detract from the rest of the forums. There is a reason that people are frustrated. Question remains.. Why ? Why people dont do what is expected when they know that these initiatives are going to help them?
Lack of convincing power that IV will do something. Lack of trust in IV organization. Lack of advertisements. lack of communication.
How do successful organizations ask people to donate money? There is something to be learned. If the cause is right (we all know it is) then its a matter of delivering this message that will get people convinced. Lot of charities get donations. How? I think that is what we need to learn. Most desis are not even aware about this organization. I bumped into it via google search for my immigration answer. So lets throw some ideas around for better advertisements.

If I am lucky enough I can make upto 70-80years of my age maximum, considering my age now, I might live another 30-35yrs. Just imagine what life we want, I completely agree what points you mentioned below. But you are forgetting the insidents we read in news media every day. I almost find atleast one incident where people are killed just for money........what if our fate is not good, and we encounter such situation???
So there is are many factors that effect our life on both sides of the globe !
I just visited last month. I stayed there for 6 weeks...
Agree that economy is booking but....
(1) too much pollution.
(2) No infrastructure to handle cars and two wheeleers.
(3) too much mosquito even in winter/summer. I do not know what will happen in rainy days.
(4) prices for every item have gone up by 3X..Most of the item I am not able to justify the rise. The quality of the product has not gone up.
(5) easy to set up business..get house...get car but tough to drive peacefully...need to pray god every morning so that we come back home with 2 hands and 2 legs and unbroken body parts.
(6) Club culture is booming too...so if you have daughter who is teen then need to check by that angle too.
Just my two cents....
