so I opened up my macbook this morning (late 2008 aluminum) and it was at the log in screen which was weird so i logged on and came to discover that when i click on the applications folder in the dock that opens up the grid view, it logs me out. any suggestions?

Congrats on finishing your first semester of law school. Couple more things you will learn in the next couple of years:
1. Illegal does not mean criminal. There are many laws that create liability that are not criminal. Any tort law, for example. Copyright laws are another example. Thus, no one cares what any prosecutor would do.
2. You don't need a grand jury for all criminal charges. You definitely don't need one for false advertising.
Hey...Perry Mason...read the whole thread. I wrote this post to respond to another poster that claimed the seller should be in jail. I was trying to explain to him that his actions were not criminal. If you would have read the whole thread, you might know that. I am aware of what charges need an indictment and those that don't. I was trying to reduce my argument to layman's terms so the original poster could understand.

:( Is it possible to retrieve changes that I made to a document that I was editing on textedit. I had an exam open I my desktop and was halfway through and when I went back to it this morning - half-asleep - I accidently clicked don't save (don't laugh). Now all I have is the orig version with just the questions. Is this lost forever? AAhhhh.........any help is much appreciated

Yet another Notes hater here.
I first came across it at work in 1992 or so, back with version 2. We used it for our customer support and sales databases, and the company were still using it in 1999 when I finally left them. By then they were also developing a web-server product based on the current Notes webserver component, and re-launched the company around this product, floating the company to obtain extra venture capital. It was quite frankly the worst performing web server I'd ever seen, and the company folded when the money ran out.
As part of supporting this junk product I had to pass a Notes exam. For that I learnt how Notes mail handled multiple copies of the same large attachment within multiple mailboxes. I forget the full details, but there was a nightly process that ran through the mail database and consolidated such attachments. It was a horrible mechanism. The previous mail system I came from handled this in a far simpler way by simply using hard links.
A collegue once ran the then current Notes release under the debug version of Windows 3.1, and had never seen so many reported errors in code.
I'd also had to integrate Notes (version 4 I believe) into another E-mail sytem via a gateway at a customer. Configuring SMTP to an external source under Notes was a pain, and it took 3 'engineers' about 4 hours to try all of the combinations before we could get it to both send and receive mail.
I've come across Notes a few times since then. Still horrible.

I just hope there is some mention of this at next month's rumored iOS 5 developer media event. I've wondered off and on how :apple: would distinguish and bring their own mapping application to iOS devices (and possibly Macs) apart from Google Maps. Graphically and for overall user experience, I much prefer Google Maps over Bing Maps, MapQuest, and the like. Just hope :apple: will bring something stronger and more robust than Mountain View.

I don't really care about the Apple TV - its not something I see myself using at this point.
I like the iPhone, though I think its a tad pricey, but I wouldn't be in the market for one before early next year, anyway. I might consider getting one at that point.
I was disappointed that there was nothing for the Mac! I wanted to see iLife and iWork '07 and more importantly, hear/see some information about Leopard!

I'm beginning to believe the term "sentient mammals" is more appropriately applied to dolphins than humans. At least the (R) kind.

Not much really when you stop and think about. You can get 12TB of storage on Newegg (let's say 4000 3TB drives) for a couple hundred grand. Of course Apple is buying more than just drives.
obviously you have never shopped for Enterprise storage for a SAN
back when 2TB drives were $300 or so we bought some 500GB drives from EMC for $800 each plus or minus some $$$.

It seems Kobe used to word "******" at a ref. Honestly it seems the "gay community" takes things way out of proportion and needs to relax a little, even if he is a celebrity the gay community needs to chill.
We (the general public) are tightening up the "gay slur" leash a little to tight. I know I use the word ****** or thats gay when I do things, even if I look at a pink motorcycle I'm like that's gay. It has nothing to do with gays in general, so why flip out over it?
